Tupelo's first opened for business in Hillsborough in November, 2000. After researching several
other possible locations, we chose Hillsborough because of its quaint, small-town feel and high level of
community participation.
Tupelo's specializes in regional Southern cuisine with a Creole accent. From authentic New Orleans's gumbo to Honey
Pecan Crusted Chicken, Tupelo's fare caters to all appetites with a variety of soups, sandwiches and entrees. We also
offer a carefully chosen wine menu, a great selection of beer and a full ABC licensed bar.
What does the word "Tupelo" mean? The Tupelo tree is known for the sweet honey its flowers produce yearly. The honey is
flown in from Florida and used in many of our dishes. We chose the Tupelo tree to represent our restaurant because it
comes from the same regions as our cuisine--the American South East-- and we wish to give our guests a dining experience
that's "as sweet as Tupelo honey."
